There is no doubt that there is an increase in technology when it comes to car manufacturers and their cars. The new craze to hit the industry is application and a number of them are jumping in.
Following Porsche’s announcement earlier on Friday morning, BMW released its own application for the much anticipated Apple Watch.
Unlike the Stuttgart carmaker’s version which has the ability of supporting several models including the Cayenne SUVs and the Macan, BMW’s application will work with only its two plug-in cars, that is the i3 supermini and the company’s i8 BMW sports car.
Dubbed the “BMW i Remote application”, BMW’s Apple Watch application will come with a number of great functions, for instance users can be able to know the cars battery status through their BMW Apple Watch application. In addition to that, the application will also help in giving out navigation instructions to its BMW user’s final destination and also the car’s interior temperature to be pre-conditioned.
One can be able to download the BMW Apple Watch Application by downloading it from Apple iTunes.
At the moment, only BMW and Porsche have jumped into the Apple Watch bandwagon by developing an application for its users so as to interact more easily with their cars. That said, there is a high probability that other car manufacturers will also jump into the bandwagon and come up with Apple Watch application for their users. For instance, there are unconfirmed reports which indicate that Mercedes-Benz is currently working on an Apple Watch application for its users.
With all that said we’ll be keen to see the impact that the Apple Watch application will have for both BMW and Porsche users.
